    Donna McGee Pottery

Here is just a little information about the artist to whet your appetite while we put her pieces on our website!

    irations:
I love working with wet clay.
Scratching thru a layer of slip painted on a slab, the sgraffito technique, gives my work its vitality.

The strength of the line drawings in clay and the spontaneity of gesture are my unique signature.

I come from the Leach/Hamada/Warren McKenzie tradition, and continued to be inspired by the deliberate act of making well designed forms on a daily basis.
My motif inspirations include the timeless beauty of the human figure, fields, folks about, and domesticity.
As Manet said, “I am a realist. I paint what I see.”
Inspiring also are the materials themselves, a grounded knowledge of what has gone before me, and the limitless future.

    Materials:

I work in low-fire red earthenware clay, and sometimes paper clay, with slips, underglaze pens, pencils, chalks, stains, and transparent glazes.

    Background:

My B.S. degree is in “Re-creation, Art, and Society’” from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois. I have also studied clay at the Jacob Cramer Centre for the Arts in Leeds, Yorkshire, England. Our education in the local pub after class was equally valuable to that of our studio work. After graduating from college, one of my goals was to continue to paint and draw. With help, practice, and perseverance, I began to combine clay with drawing in my everyday life.

    Jane Leslie & Co followers,

We are pleased (thrilled!) to announce the arrival of British chocolate line, Charbonnel et Walker. They are most known for their absolutely delicious truffles!

To add to the excitement, we also received products from the vintage-esque line, Izola, as well as paper placemats and other assorted goodies from Cake Vintage. Keep your eyes peeled for these wonderful lines to become available on our site!

Happy weekend, Jane Leslie & Co followers!

We have quite the surprises in store for you all! We are welcoming a few new lines to our store in the next couple weeks (ie. Charbonnel et Walker- chocolates to die for). We can’t wait for you all to see (and, in some cases, taste) them!

A few lines in our store that we are hoping to get up on our website over the next few days is Nkuku, an environmentally friendly home decor line, as well as Cake (they actually make paper place mats that have the outline of a fork, knife, and spoon- how cute is that?!) If you weren’t prepared for summer picnics and grilling, you will be now!

Have a lovely and safe Memorial weekend!

    Jane Leslie & Co.

We have been bragging about our luck with weather here in Northeast Pennsylvania. Now that we got in the original Pendleton collection, we want to grab these blankets, a picnic basket, and a wheel of cheese and just relax outside in the sun!

Because Jane Leslie & Co is open normal hours today, we are feeling a bit festive and creative. So we thought we would post a few pictures of our products! Here is our very own Cornelia (from Danish line Maileg) posing with a bunny “family tree” by Danielle Desplan!
We must admit that Cornelia is feeling a bit lonely since all of her sisters have all found homes- she must be a bit nostalgic…

Another holiday weekend is upon us as we continue to prepare for warmer weather here in Kingston, PA!

The store couldn’t be any cooler with bunnies scattered about (pictures to come!) and an open door allowing the breeze to run through Jane Leslie & Co. With our new Campo de Fiori merchandise (think rustic bunnies and roosters) and eggs from local Heaven Hills Farm dispersed in Easter baskets, I would say we are ready for our holiday shoppers to come tomorrow! But as we say, better late than never…

P.S.- Don’t forget about the FREE SHIPPING with online orders of $100 or more! It ends Sunday so head on over to our website and start shopping!

Happy Wednesday, Jane Leslie & Co. followers!

Normally we would wait until Friday to share any news from the week, but today we are bursting from excitement over the newest additions to the store! We are collaborating with a local farm, Heaven Hills Farm, to sell raw, organic eggs as well as potted herbs, fruits, vegetables, and other plants. We will be sharing a few pictures of the chickens that supply us with these bright, pastel eggs, and possibly a little story about each of them!

    We hope you enjoy!

A week has already gone by since our last blog post?! Springtime goes by too fast…

Between the rapid change in the weather (Sunny and 80 one day, cloudy and 55 the next?), though some rain would be just lovely for more buds to appear, it has been a wild week! But we at Jane Leslie & Co love Spring. Not just because our store pup, Ollie, enjoys a nice breeze through the store, but because it’s such a refreshing and renewing time of the year.

Speaking of refreshing and renewing, we have some great new items planned to arrive next week that we are just thrilled to expose to our online, as well as in-store, shoppers. Some upcoming items include, but are not limited to, Lulu Frost Plaza and Campo de Fiori (how fitting!!).

As always, feel free to email, message, call or tweet us with any questions you have! We love hearing feedback, questions, or just hellos!

Happy Friday, Jane Leslie & Co followers!

It has been quite an exciting month so far! We have received so many new products- the store looks absolutely marvelous. And to top it off, we are working extra hard to match the same feeling with our website. So if certain pieces that you see one day are gone the next, we are just doing a bit of updating, so feel free to contact us through twitter, facebook, email, or phone call about any of our products or just about the store in general!

Between the seemingly endless number of handmade Gramma Nancy Easter bunnies and the stunning Arte Italica pewter barware, we just can’t contain our excitement! We have just received what is arguably the most adorable line yet- Maileg. This Danish line of charming toy mice and bunnies would bring a smile to any customer’s face! From the pastel dresses to the matchbox sleeping bag, we just adore this line and know any child who receives them on Easter morning will feel the same. Be on the lookout for the Maileg collection to be added to Janeleslieco.com. But don’t worry- we will warn you when it’s ready!

Have a happy and safe weekend (and St. Patrick’s Day!)…we know we will!
